Apple AirTag Sets Are on Sale at Target

I’m a cautious traveler after having my luggage stolen off the baggage claim belt on a cross-country flight two years ago. There were two things I vouched to never travel without moving forward: a luggage tag and an Apple AirTag. The latter is on sale in packs of four at Target right now, and I might just buy another set to add to other personal items like my handbag, work tote, wallet, and car keys. 

The editor- and flight attendant-loved Apple AirTags are a great way to achieve peace of mind while traveling, and at this sale price, they cost just $20 apiece; that’s a small price compared to the cost of clothing and toiletries I lost in my suitcase back in 2022. I horribly wish I had owned these from the moment they launched in 2021.

The small round tags instantly sync up to your iPhone upon set up and coincide with the ‘Find My’ app to keep an eye on your belongings. This is super helpful on flights when I check a bag since the first thing I do after landing is check my app to ensure the bag made it to my destination with me. You can also assign a name to each tag, which is helpful when you have multiple to keep tabs on. 

Hindsight is always 20/20, and I replay in my mind how differently that traumatizing experience of losing my suitcase would’ve gone if I had added an AirTag inside it. To say I learned my lesson would be a vast understatement. I’ve gifted them to my family members and even convinced my friends to own them as well to avoid going through the headache I did. I recently gifted one to my younger brother alongside a keychain holder for Christmas after I was sick of having to drive him his apartment keys when he’d leave them behind at our parents’ house.

After buying my first AirTags, they lasted me two years without needing a battery change, and when I did need to replace the batteries last month, it was effortless. Shoppers feel the same way I do about not purchasing them sooner, with one person asking, “How did we live without these?” A second reviewer said the AirTags “changed [their family’s] lives” to help keep track of their suitcases and their husband’s diabetes glucose monitor.
